I wonder if I somehow caused this, or if it’s just part of ChatGPT?

For example, I recently asked AI to come up with a way for me to forecast weather in a certain spot. The regular wind forecast is not reliable, I want to come up with a more complex way to do it that takes in to account the necessary variables like inland temperature, sea temp, etc.

So the AI says “Oh yeah, we can do that. We’ll create a scale and add points for this and points for that. But do you want to know how to increase the reliability of this forecast from 50% to 80%?”

so I go “Yes, show me that.”

So it talks some more about weather, then it says “Do you want to see how to add even more conditions to increase the forecast reliability from 80% to 95%?”

and it just doesn’t ever stop. I finally said “Stop baiting me with every response and give me the best information the first time I ask for it.” but of course, that didn’t make any difference.

I regularly switch between AI as they are constantly changing, and ChatGPT is getting lower on my list because of this behavior.

Do you see this as a way to sell more prompts or is it something I’m bringing out of chatgpt in my discussions?

The other thing I’ve noticed with ChatGPT that started recently is I can talk to it about cooking, or how to fix something, or about a holiday, and it will talk all day. If I start asking it coding questions, it says “You’re almost out of questions! Better pay me!”

So I don’t ask it coding questions. I do have a feeling we are in the golden age of free AI, and eventually they’ll know enough to start squeezing us the most efficiently for money.
